Country Blues For Kids Liner Notes

This record is dedicated to Rory, Rosemary, Brennan and to the kid in us all.

I want to thank Jeff, Tim and Tony Lee, Andy Gallaher, Jay Glassman, Steve Lamb and my Mom for giving those guys a place to play.

I want to also acknowledge those who have gone before me: Woody, Leadbelly, Rev. Davis, and John Hurt. I am definitely standing on the shoulders of these people and would not be what I am without their work.

Lastly, a big thank you to Woody Mann for showing me how to make country blues “bounce.”

I grew up in an old house on Cherry Heights where lots of musicians would come together and play music. Some nights I would sneak out of bed and lay by the heat vent with the music being made downstairs coming up through the duct work like a radio. Many nights I fell asleep to music being made in our hippie home. I will always remember my friend Jeff playing and singing Green Corn to a crowd of us kids and his older brother Tim coming in and singing Puff the Magic Dragon to play six kids piled in a bed off to sleep. It is my pleasure to give you all a little piece of that world.

Country blues is a true American art form that needs to be preserved and evolved. My hope is that I am a good steward of this music you enjoy this little collection of songs. Thank you.
