| Buy whole CD
This is an old gospel tune that originally came out of the Beautitudes in the Christian bible.
“You are the light of the world- like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.”
This song was a powerful tool for workers in the Civil rights movement like Fannie Lou Hamer
I play this in “C” with a capo on the second fret so I am actually singing it in “D”
There are many, many verses and variations on this song. Try a few of your own!
Tayto Crisps in Ireland used this version for their Sunflower TV ad. God bless the Irish.
